The History Mu Mu Mu chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated

On February 1, 2005, Bro. Torrance Barnum envisioned a need for the presence of True Omega Spirit to shine upon the western region of Georgia, which covers from Douglas County/Lithia Springs to the border of Alabama. Brother Barnum made the necessary inquiries to Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated Headquarters on the requirements in establishing a Graduate chapter in the area. After compiling all the requirements, he turned to one of his good friends, Bro. Kenneth Payne to see if he would like to pursue this vision. Brother Payne embraced the idea and the two began the quest to find fraternity members in their community willing to commit to the vision. Of the Omega Men assembled, the vision was forever solidified. After many meetings and tedious work, the Omega Men of Douglas County (OMDC) was formed. OMDC have served as mentors at Stewart Middle School for young boys and participated in programs encouraging students to strive for success, worked with programs at the YMCA of Douglasville, and S.H.A.R.E House, a women shelter. Community service is our focus. After five long years of persevering for Omega, our 7th District Representative, Bro. Keith Jackson, called our chapter Basileus, Bro. Michael Austin on May 6, 2010 and informed him that the Supreme Council duly charted Mu Mu Mu Chapter. The newly formed chapter celebrated its inception on June 6, 2010, by hosting Chartering Ceremony and Dinner, with the theme: Extending the Hand of Friendship. Omega Dear we are thy own. Long live Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
